SPECwpc benchmark adds virtualization support -- The SPEC Workstation Performance Characterization (SPECwpc) project group has released SPECwpc V1.2*, a new version of its workstation benchmark that extends performance measurement from physical to virtualized configurations.

• Purchase it if you're a commercial entity (a for-profit vendor of computer products and services). Use it as the ultimate development and marketing tool.

Vendors: Let your performance do the talking -- Companies that are not a member of SPEC/GWPG can still take advantage of the credibility that comes from publicizing performance results using the world's leading standardized benchmarks for graphics and workstation performance. Here's how:

• Purchase a commercial license of a SPEC/GWPG benchmark.
• Run the benchmark on your latest hardware/software.
• Submit the results for review by a SPEC/GWPG project group (SPECapc, SPECgpc and/or SPECwpc).

If accepted, the results will be published on the SPEC website, potentially reaching nearly one million performance-oriented professionals.

* NOTE: An internal error in SPECwpc V1.2 and earlier might affect the scores for the LifeSci and Energy composites by up to 5%. Due to an error in the way clipping planes are handled, results for configurations containing certain high-end graphics cards are abnormally high for tests 5 and 7 of the energy-01 dataset and marginally higher for tests 5 and 10 of the medical-01 dataset. No other datasets are affected. This bug will be fixed in the upcoming V2.0, slated for late Summer or early Fall of 2015. More information.
